Alexis Dwyer will receive her Master of Fine Arts in integrated visual arts from Iowa State in May.
AMES, Iowa — Iowa State University's Design on Main Gallery, 203 Main St., will feature the work of integrated visual arts graduate student Alexis Dwyer April 8-22.
Dwyer's Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition, "Casey Land Rambles," will explore the "emotional and spiritual effects of continual interaction with a natural space through the integration of multiple mediums," she said. "There will be six or seven different sections of work representing the [span of my graduate studies] at Iowa State. Viewers are encouraged to interact with sections of the exhibition."

Gallery hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Sunday; 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday; noon to 3:30 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and by appointment. public reception will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 15.
Dwyer, originally of Colombia, Missouri, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography and printmaking from Colombia College in 2011. Her work has been accepted into several national and international exhibitions, including the "XinYiDai International University Students Exchange Exhibition," part of the Hong Kong Graphic Art Fiesta 2014; "47th Clay, Fiber, Paper, Glass, Metal, Wood" national juried exhibition (2015) at the Octagon Center for the Arts, Ames; "Layers: Juried Student Show" (2015) and "Once, An Exhibition" (2015), both sponsored by the Monotype Guild of New England; "Ripples 2" at the ISU Design on Main Gallery (2015); "5th Student International Small Print Show" at El Minia University Faculty of Fine Arts, El Minia, Egypt (2016); and "37th Annual Paper in Particular National Exhibition" at Columbia College (2016).
She won Best in Show in the "Studies in Creativity Juried Exhibit" (2014), a Purchase Award in the "Art Inspired Juried Exhibit" (2014); and both a Merit Award and a Purchase Award in the "Apex Juried Exhibit" (2015), all the Iowa State Memorial Union. And she won the Emerging Artist of Excellence at the Voices Art Slam 4th Annual Live Painting Competition in Dubuque (2015).
