Core Design Program

2016 Professional Program Admission Criteria

To be considered for entry into any of the College of Design's six enrollment managed programs, students must:

1. Pass all core courses

  • DSN S 102
  • DSN S 131
  • DSN S 183
  • DSN S 110/115

2. Earn a 2.00 cumulative GPA


Program Specific Criteria

In addition to the above requirements, each program utilizes an individual formula for admission as follows:

  1. Architecture
    1. Core GPA: 40% (The best 14 credit hours from Core, but including DSN S 102, 131, and 183 and at least 3 credits from MATH 145 or PHYS 111, will be calculated.)
    2. Portfolio: 30%
    3. Essay: 15%
    4. RAI: 15%
  2. ‚ÄčGraphic Design
    1. Core GPA: 60% (Only the best 26 credit hours from the Core, but including DSN S 102, 131 and 183, will be calculated.)
    2. Portfolio: 30%
    3. Essay: 10%
  3. Industrial Design
    1. Core GPA: 40% (Only the best 26 credit hours from the Core, but including DSN S 102, 131 and 183, will be calculated.)
    2. Portfolio: 50%
    3. Essay: 10%
  4. Integrated Studio Arts
    1. Cumulative GPA: 30% (Only the best 26 credit hours, but including DSN S 102, 131 and 183, will be calculated.)
    2. Portfolio: 60%
    3. Essay: 10%
  5. Interior Design
    1. Core GPA: 45% (Only the best 26 credit hours from the Core, but including DSN S 102, 131 and 183, will be calculated.)
    2. Portfolio: 40%
    3. Essay: 0% (Essay not required)
    4. High school ranking: 15%
  6. Landscape Architecture
    1. Core GPA: 60% (Only the best 26 credit hours from the Core, but including DSN S 102, 131 and 183, will be calculated.)
    2. Portfolio: 25%
    3. Essay: 15%
